UNDERSTANDING YOUR TREATMENT
How it works
When you come in for treatment, we agree on the areas to be treated and apply a numbing cream to the areas. This mostly helps dull the feeling of the needle going in (fillers). In the case of threads, the insertion points are numbed with a small injection. All of the dermal fillers have an anesthetic in them as well, which helps as the actual product going in. Dr. Steele Johnson uses a combination of needles and cannulas with injectable fillers for the best results in different areas to minimize bruising and maximize accuracy. You will see an instant result following treatment fillers or threadlifts and some swelling will follow. Usually swelling is only such that you will notice and not that others notice.
What does the recovery entail?
After fillers or threadlifts, you mostly won’t have anything for you “to do” except gently rub anti-bruising cream a couple of times a day. You may resume exercise the next day and for the next 2-3 days, avoid putting your face down in a contoured shape like a massage table. You will also need to avoid dental work for a few weeks after the procedure.
What type of follow up or maintenance is needed?
Most shaping and contouring procedures will last between 9 and 24 months. Neither fillers nor the effects of threadlifts will completely disappear all at once. The effects will gradually diminish as the product gets broken down by the body or the new collagen that is produced gets outpaced by the aging process. If you want to maintain a very specific look, then you will need to follow up for additional treatment sooner than later, like every 6 months. Otherwise, you will keep some of the results for up to 1-2 years and may wait until the end of that frame for additional.
